Description of Organization: The Groton Trails Committee is chartered by the Selectmen to develop new trails and maintain existing trails throughout Groton. While our primary focus is on the town's Conservation Commission parcels, we also work with other landowners who permit public use of their land, including the Groton Conservation Trust, the New England Forestry Foundation, and the state's Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Volunteering Opportunities: 1. Building new and maintaing old trails. 2. Building bridges, boardwalks, etc. 3. Mapping work, including GPS data collection as well as map production. 4. Installing trailhead posts and markers along trails.

Requirements for Volunteers: Commitment can be from a day to many days over months. some of the physical tasks require some moderate degree of fitness, but others require only a modest hiking ability.

Other: Most projects cannot be done with snow cover.
